I’m getting increasingly closer to launch date for my first ‘major’ betting site. It’s pretty exciting as I guess with any venture you never know how big or successful it can be. I have high hopes though. I’ve got a bunch of strong keyword pages written up with a shed more still to add. I’m just debating how many pages I want on before I do launch. I’m probably going to shoot for 30 then keep adding, hopefully until I reach the 150+ mark.

The only thing that concerns me with the site is the content. Will it convert? Will I get the traffic in with keyword structure and (limited) SEO information that I have. I spent a fair few hours researching strategies and keywords for articles to maximise my exposure, but I guess Google will decide if I am worthy of making a buck or two from this project. I’ll write a full blog post once it’s good to go.

My content writing has been going realllyyyyy well. I’m booked up for another month or two, which is something that shouldn’t be sniffed at I’ve learned. Whilst a month ago I was rejecting projects and turning work down, which made me feel ill haha, I’m going to be opening up slots for clients again as I now need to get, hopefully, the lead up Christmas fully booked. If I can secure that time by the end of September then I will be happy man and 2011 will definitely go down as a successful year.

I’ve spent a bit of time researching possible niche sites and have made a couple of domain acquisitions over the past weeks. Niche they certainly are with one being a car policy site and tother a perfume site!!! I obviously know jack about the subjects but have a few people lined up who can hopefully sort them out for me. I was just going to lump a load of adsense on these but after having a chat with a mate, I’m going to run with some affiliate lines as well.

These two sites are hopefully the start of a host of these smaller niche sites that can generate me some passive income. I’ve got general ideas for about 10-12 different smaller sites all going to be about 30 pages and then see which perform well. Unfortunately, as ever, I cant take full credit for this idea as it was something I spoke about with a good friend. In fact, it’s pretty much down to him why I am where I am….think I probably owe him a pint tbh.

Anyway……Things are moving along nicely. After August is out the way it signals the end of the cricket season, which means I will have a chunk of my life back again. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE cricket, but playing 9 games in 10 days is just too much when trying to establish a business. I’ve struggled a little with motivation as a result due to too many times just sacking off work I needed to get done to head off for a match.

I’ve spent a decent chunk of today looking over tax information and sorting self assessment stuff, before coming to the conclusion that I am far too lazy to be working all this stuff out and am going to get an accountant on the case. I figured even though it would cost me a chunk to get going, they are probably going to save me that in money that I can claim back, of which I would have little clue.

I love sites and blogs that post income reports on there of how people are doing and find them really motivating. Whilst I am not going to do anything like that on here, I would like to say that July was a good month for me and the best turnover the business has had since it was ‘established’. It’s still by no means mega bucks or anything like that, but it’s a start and feed’s my drinking habit! That’s all I aim for really, that I make more money than the month before. Whether that be £1 or £1000 if I can keep doing this then I must be doing something right, right?
