Final Quarter
So maybe somewhat unbelievably it’s October and we head into the final quarter of year. It’s the last chance to really set any targets for a VPP chase, and I’ve decided I’m going to shoot for 200k VPPs, which is around another 80k. It’ll be a ridiculously tough ask for me requiring 3 consecutive months of some high volume (for me anyway) poker. I think it’s going to be around 400-450k hands up until December 31st, so it’s going to be a real slog for me and even typing that amount makes my stomach turn somewhat but if i break down into a day to day routine then it’s not too bad! Overall i think it’s going to be wroth around $7-8k which will be a nice bonus at the end of the year…..IF I make it!!
I can’t remember If i mentioned in my last blog, and I’m too lazy to go check, but last week I signed up for a membership at Brancepeth Golf Club finally after a fair few weeks of debating where to go. After playing most days last week, I can safely say that even after all the rain we’ve had up here, the course is in great nick and I’m delighted with my, albeit very expensive, selection to go there.
The place is a world apart from the ‘steady’ courses we’ve been playing throughout the last couple of months and realisation kicked in after shooting a little embarrassing 101. This following rounds of 79,82 and 83 at mount oswlad! But I’m not disheartened at all, and if anything more determined to work on my game to try and improve. Some of the locals reckon you there’s 3-4 shot difference in handicap there compared to other courses around the county, which is a pretty big gap!
Next weekend there are 6 of us heading to Slayley Hall for a round and have gotten a fantastic deal. Basically for those that don’t know, Slayley is probably one, if not THE, best courses in the North regularly holding European Tour events and the Seniors Open. So to get a round, albeit in October, for £25 a head is a bargain in my eyes. Going to put a fair bit of work in this week on my game so I can hopefully be in the position to play at least reasonably well around such a great course….fingers crossed!
So yeah in recap I’ve got a tough final quarter coming up and I’ll be mega busy, which is good. Fingers crossed I can get there! That’s it for now, laters!
